    WE SHALL BE STOPPING LISTING ON THE 22nd JULY AS SUMMER APPROACHES AND WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF MORE COMMON, LESS EXPENSIVE MATERIAL.     1685 Mallet Engraving  - Fig 29, Fig 61
    Allain Mallet whose professional occupation was a military engineer, is known more for his authorship of the five volume "Description de l'Univers', one of the earliest printed miniature, illustrated world history/geography books. It contains numerous decorative maps, views, portraits etc. which are the best source of reasonably priced material for the collector of early illustrated material.
    These engraving show astronomical and weather subjects, the first set in a landscape showing an armillary sphere where the earth's revolution around the sun and the reason for the seasons are represented
    . The second shows a rainbow above a seventeenth century rural landscape.
    Each engraving measures 5.5" by 4", has fine wash hand colouring, and is i good condition.
    The engravings are guaranteed to be over 325 years old.
