Title:
Curious Novelty! Differentable, & probable Ages of Man compared to a Tropical Day.
Description:
This is a very peculiar 1827 lithograph broadside by Richard Cox, an English East Indian, associating the 'ages of man' with scripture, and the 'Duration of a Tropical Day.' The broadside is entitled 'Curious Novelty!', which we find apt. The author states,
The use of this Tropical Dial, is to show Mankind, both religiously and morally like, a Watch does the Hours of A Day, the different passing Period, and Ages of Man, in order that they may enjoy this Life with Taste and Judgement.
The 'Comparative, Rational, and Tropical Dial' on the right side of the document corresponds physical age in years to periods of the day and labels each period of life according. There is, for instance the 'Age of Reason and Judgment' in the 30s. The 40s are considered an 'Age of Avarice and Accumulating Riches,' followed by the 'Age of Approaching Infirmity,' 'Age of Decrepitude,' and 'Age of Total Inability.' Around the dial are notations associated with the horoscope, and times of day. This is one of the more novel approaches to the 'Ages of Man' that we have seen.

Customs:
International buyers are responsible for paying duty and taxes on delivery. DHL or FedEx will contact the buyer by telephone to arrange tax payment if it is levied. Duty varies by country and we cannot predict the amount you will be charged. Some countries are duty free, others are not. Typically, a customs duty and/or VAT tax will be assessed on all parcels to continental Europe. Sometimes duty or tax is due in China, but is seems very random. Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan have never assessed duty on a map we shipped. Maps shipped to the UK should be duty free as educational materials, but from time to time duty of 5% is assessed incorrectly by the UK customs agents.
Insurance:
All shipments are insured privately against loss and damage. All of our shipments require a signature for insurance purposes.
